No man can innocently do that which he thinketh is forbidden

December 10, 2016

‘Never persuade any man (much less compel him) to any thing unnecessary, which he taketh to be a sin’ (whatever you take it for yourselves). For if he judge it a sin, it is a sin to him. No man can innocently do that which he thinketh is forbidden him of God.

Richard Baxter, William Orme, The Practical Works of the Rev. Richard Baxter, vol. 6 (London: James Duncan, 1830), 215.
