John Owen Argues From the Lesser to the Greater on the Matter of Forgiveness

April 3, 2015

"What, then, shall we say now?  Is there forgiveness with...[God] or no?  'He that planted the ear, shall he not hear?  He that formed the eye, shall he not see?'  He that thus prescribes forgiveness to us, that bestows the grace of it upon us, is there not forgiveness with him?...He that finds this grace wrought in him in any measure, and yet fears that he shall not find it in himself, doth...prefer himself above God; which is the natural effect of our cursed unbelief."
